80,600
Home cooked meals shared.
Over the past five years, volunteers have prepared and shared more than 80,600 home cooked meals. Each meal represents time, care, and a commitment to showing up for people who need it.
20,000
Kilograms of food rescued from going to waste.
Since 2020, Acts of Kindness has rescued over 20 tonnes of fresh food that would otherwise have been thrown away. That food has been turned into nourishing meals for people experiencing homelessness and hardship across our community.
520
Weekly homeless food services.
Every Wednesday and Thursday night, rain or shine, our volunteers show up. Over five years, we have run more than 520 weekly services, creating a consistent place of food, safety, and connection for our street family.
our process

We work through a simple, hands-on process. We rescue good food before it goes to waste, prepare it with care, and share it directly with people who need it. Everything we do is volunteer led and focused on getting food where it will make the biggest difference.

RESCUE
We save good food from going to waste and make sure it is put to use.
PREPARE
Volunteers turn rescued food into meals, prepared with care in home kitchens.
SERVE
Meals are shared directly with people doing it tough through regular food services.
CONNECT
Sharing food creates space for dignity, conversation, and community.

We’re powered by volunteers.

From rescuing food to cooking meals and serving on the street, every part of our work depends on people choosing to show up and help.

You can help in different ways, depending on your time and capacity. Some volunteers cook meals at home, others help with food rescue, sorting and packing, or serve at our weekly food services.

Donate to support our work

Donations play a vital role in keeping Acts of Kindness running. While much of our work is powered by volunteers and rescued food, there are real costs involved in rescuing, storing, preparing, and serving meals week after week. Financial support helps cover essentials like transport, fuel, storage, equipment, packaging, and the ongoing costs of operating our warehouse.

These resources allow us to rescue more food, prepare more meals, and show up consistently for people who rely on our services.

Acts of Kindness is 100 percent volunteer run, and 100 percent of donations go directly towards supporting people doing it tough through food and community services. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps turn surplus food into shared meals and ensures we can continue providing support with dignity, care, and reliability.

“I volunteer most weeks because I believe in the care Acts of Kindness provides. Sarah and Tom lead with real heart, showing up consistently for those in need, including every Christmas Day. It is a privilege to be part of something so genuinely compassionate.”

George Ellis

"It truly feels like a community, with people sharing a hot home-cooked meal, chatting together, and even taking home leftovers, baked goods, fruit and vegetables. Sarah is an incredible human who goes above and beyond."

Moments from our community

These photos capture the everyday moments that make up our work. From food rescue and meal preparation to shared meals and conversations, they show the care, effort, and community behind everything we do.

Our founders and board members

Acts of Kindness was founded by people who saw a gap and chose to show up. The organisation is guided by its founders and supported by a small board who help ensure the work is sustainable, transparent, and focused on helping people directly.
